Music

"To sing is to pray twice." - St. Augustine

The music program for this event will be absolutely amazing!  You don't want to miss it!  The praise and worship music will start at 7pm and continue through out the ceremony.
Music is such an important part of our worship.  By its very nature, music bypasses the intellect and mind and goes straight to the heart and spirit.  It literally lifts us above the circumstances and business of our lives to a higher realm where our spirits are free to give praise, honor and glory to God.  That's exactly what we want to happen at the Cotton Bowl on May 13!  We want to draw the hearts of everyone present closer to Jesus  --have them experience His Presence in the Blessed Sacrament  -- help them open their minds, hearts and spirits so they will come to a deeper understanding of who He is.  Music is one of the most beautiful gifts God has given to mankind.  May we all use it to return all love, honor and glory to Him!

Musical worship for this event will be led by over 75 vocalists from all over DFW and 24 different instrumentalists from all over the world.  The sound is dynamic, exciting and energetic  -- all the while being prayerful, reverent, and worshipful.  It is relevant to people of all ages and cultures, encompassing all of who we are today.  It is music that encompasses traditional forms of music as well as more contemporary ones.  It is music from many of the different cultures that make up the Catholic Church!

Our director, Curtis Stephan, is a wonder to watch with a very charismatic personality.  The musicians have come from at least 26 different cities, and from the first minute, Curtis was completely in control.  He said what he wanted and they gave it to him!  He has a tremendous sense of humor, a quiet gentle spirit, and is extremely talented.  He has a Masters degree in Jazz studies from UNT, has been a Music Minister at St. Ann's in Coppell for 8 years, and has significant experience performing and conducting a wide variety of groups from the most traditional to the most contemporary, English, Spanish, and multi-lingual.  He has recorded 4 CD's of his own and produced 6 CD's.  He is a recording artist for Oregon Catholic Press/SpiritandSong.com--several original pieces are going to publication.  He co-composed the multicultural theme song for the National Catholic Youth Conference in Atlanta, GA October of 2005.  He has performed with Catholic artists: Jesse Manibusan, Steve Angrisano, Matt Maher, Bob Hurd, Danielle Rose, Ceili Rain and many more.  Has opened for ShaunGroves, Big Daddy Weave, Wayne Watson and other CCM artists.  He has a very special love for the Eucharist and the Blessed Mother.  His faith really shines through all of his work.

World renowned violinist Hubert Pralitz will also be joining us at the Cotton Bowl on May 13th to play the "Ave Maria."

We want to honor Mary, His Mother, and seek her intercession, especially for peace in our hearts, in our families, and in the world.  We pray that we all will feel her presence and her love this blessed evening.
